The Spot Barbershop ("The Spot," "we," "our," or "us") operates barbershop and hair care services at three Southern California locations. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you book an appointment, use our walk-in kiosk, or visit spotbarbershops.com, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
By using our services, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following information directly from you:
- Name — used to identify you at check-in and personalize your appointment
- Phone number — used for appointment and service communications, and (with your separate consent) promotional messages
- Service preferences — the type of service you select when booking or checking in
- Barber preference — the barber you request, if any
- Appointment notes — style instructions you enter, shared only with your barber
We also collect limited technical information automatically when you visit our website, including browser type, device type, and pages viewed, through Vercel Analytics. This information is used in aggregate and is not linked to your identity.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Confirm and manage your appointments and walk-in queue position
- Send appointment reminders and service-related text messages (see Section 4)
- Send promotional text messages if you have separately opted in (see Section 4)
- Improve our services based on aggregate usage patterns
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. SMS Communications
We operate two distinct SMS programs:
Service SMS (The Spot Service Alerts): When you provide a phone number through our website or kiosk, you consent to receive service-related text messages, including appointment confirmations, reminders, and waitlist updates. These messages are necessary for managing your visit and cannot be separated from providing your phone number for service purposes.
Promotional SMS (The Spot Promos): We send promotional messages — including offers, discounts, and event announcements — only to customers who have separately and explicitly opted in by checking the promotional consent checkbox at booking or check-in. You are not required to opt in to promotional messages to book an appointment or join the walk-in queue.

5. Data Storage and Security
Your information is stored with Supabase, a US-based cloud database provider. Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure.
We do not store credit card or payment information. Payments are handled in-person at the shop.
6. Data Retention
We retain appointment and check-in records for business operations, service history, and to honor opt-out requests. You may request that we delete your personal information by contacting us (see Section 11). We will honor deletion requests within a reasonable time unless we are required to retain information by law.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your personal information
- Opt out of promotional SMS at any time (reply STOP)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

8. Children's Privacy
Our services are intended for individuals 13 years of age and older. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
9. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to third-party platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those platforms. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
